So far there is no evidence that explicitly illustrates that marijuana has a negative impact on brain cells other than temporary impairment. The only thing that can be asserted is that marijuana users have been shown to have decreased numbers of neurons present in the human brain from people aged twenty years old and upwards, but this trend cannot be attributed to the use of marijuana. Neurogenesis stops after the mid twenties and this means that anyone around twenty or up would have decreasing “brain cells”. Marijuana, however, does affect lung health and other parts of the body, but has not been shown to negatively affect the brain significantly.
